Phenolic Content and Antioxidant Capacity Across Moringa Plant Parts

2015

Antioxidants protect the body — and foods — from the damage caused by free radicals. This study measured and compared the antioxidant capacity of different parts of Moringa oleifera, a plant prized for its polyphenols.

Extracts from various plant parts were analysed for total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC) and antioxidant activity.

Key findings

Why it matters for MORIFA: “High in antioxidants” is a core moringa claim. Quantified comparisons across plant parts help us specify and market the most antioxidant-rich material to health-focused buyers.

Caveat: antioxidant values depend on extraction solvent and plant part; in-vitro measures.
