As interest in cultivating moringa and producing its oil grows, detailed compositional data becomes commercially important. This open-access study compared the fatty acids and macroelements in seed oils from two moringa species: Moringa peregrina and Moringa oleifera.
Conducted in Saudi Arabia, the oils were extracted by solvent and pressing methods and analysed for their fatty-acid and mineral composition.
What the study covers
- The fatty-acid profiles of M. peregrina and M. oleifera seed oils.
- Their macroelement (mineral) content.
- A comparison across two species and extraction methods.
Caveat: composition varies by species, origin and extraction method.
