In-Silico Exploration of Moringa Bioactives as Anti-Malarials

Malaria remains a leading cause of death in tropical countries, and resistance to existing drugs is a growing problem — driving the search for new candidates. This study used a computational (in-silico) approach to explore the anti-malarial potential of Moringa oleifera bioactive compounds.

Moringa, widely cultivated in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia, has many known pharmacological effects (anti-asthma, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial), but its anti-malarial action is less clearly understood — the gap this study addresses.

What the study examined

Why it matters for MORIFA: Computational drug-discovery interest in moringa — using material from our own NTT region — adds modern scientific credibility and a local angle to our anti-malarial story.

Caveat: an in-silico (computer-modelling) study; predictions require laboratory and clinical confirmation. Not a medical claim.
