Phytochemical Composition and Antioxidant Activity of Moringa

2021

Understanding exactly what is in moringa — and how active it is — underpins every health claim. This study provided a comprehensive phytochemical and antioxidant profile of Moringa oleifera.

Using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS) for composition, and multiple assays (DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, CUPRAC, phosphomolybdenum) for antioxidant capacity, the team characterised the plant in detail.

Key points

Why it matters for MORIFA: Rigorous compositional and antioxidant data (modern UHPLC-MS) is exactly the technical substantiation supplement and food buyers want behind our nutrition and antioxidant claims.

Caveat: values depend on plant material and method; in-vitro antioxidant measures.
