Moringa Seed Extract vs Alum on Drinking-Water Quality

This study compared Moringa oleifera seed extract against alum across a wide set of drinking-water quality parameters, using domestic water samples from Ikole-Ekiti, Nigeria.

Moringa seed extract was added to collected water samples, which were then tested in the laboratory against twelve quality parameters and compared with alum.

Key findings

Why it matters for MORIFA: Improving such a broad range of drinking-water parameters — including iron and nitrate, not just turbidity — strengthens moringa seed’s credibility as a genuine alum alternative for potable-water treatment.

Caveat: a localized comparative study; performance varies with the source water treated.
